Active in Jewish and World music, the front man of the Pushkin Klezmer Band, Mytya Gerasimov was born and raised in Russia’s Tatarstan, and graduated from Kazan Conservatoire. In 2008 he moved to Odessa, where he practiced Klezmer music and singing. In 2010, he formed the Pushkin Klezmer Band, performing in venues in Ukraine and in Europe. The Kiev-based ensemble is situated in the cradle of Jewish instrumental music, where they collected unknown traditional songs and tunes.

The group’s premier album Klezmer Über Alles (released in 2016 in Berlin) is a manifestation of the idea that klezmer music form an integral part of Ukrainian culture. The songs and dances in this album originate from various Ukrainian towns, but they represent live music of today’s Ukraine. Mitya Gerasimov has also performed and recorded with such diverse artists and groups as Caci Vorba, The Klezmatics, David Krakauer, Frank London, Eyal Shiloach, DJ Socalled, The Shuk, The Petrojvic Blasting Co., Nayekhovichi, Gasmac Gilmore, and many others.
