David Gru is a graduate of the Rubin Academy of Music, where he studied under Mordechai Rechtman. He is a recipient of scholarships from the America–Israel Cultural Foundation.
Since 1994, he has served as principal bassoonist of the Rishon LeZion Symphony Orchestra and the New Israeli Opera. He has also performed regularly as a guest musician with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra since 1996.
David has been teaching music since 1995 at conservatories throughout Israel, including in Ness Ziona, Petah Tikva, Tel Aviv–Jaffa, Ramat Gan, Kfar Vradim, Nahariya, Acre, and Ma'alot. He has served as a judge for the America–Israel Cultural Foundation’s scholarship program.
In addition to his work as a performer and educator, he is a certified group facilitator and coach, specializing in integral education. He is also active as a concert presenter.
