Accordion artist, composer, arranger, Ilya Magalnyk was born in Moldova, where he received his musical education and began his musical career. In 1990 he immigrated to Israel and soon became a meanigful figure in Israel's music scene. He performed with leading Israeli artists, including Shlomo Gronich, Efi Netzer, Leonid Ptashka, Dan Almagor, Zvika Hadar, Alex Ansky, Haya Samir, Alicia Svigals, Lev Zhurbin. In his playing he combines numerous musical styles, such as klezmer, Jewish music, French Chanson, contemporary music, Balkan, jazz and more. As accordion player he participated in leading Israeli theaters' plays and appeared in radio and TV shows, among which is TV series Shemesh. He is a member of the Israeli Composers Association, writes music and arrangements for various ensembles and artists, as well as for the theatre and the cinema and won a scholarship from the Ministry of Science, Culture and Sports for his arrangements and original works in the CD Wondering Stars, issued in 2000. He founded and is Music Manager of Magalnyk Klezmer Band during the last 20 years.
