The renowned Belgian pianist Johan Schmidt was Eduardo del Pueyo's student and continued studies with Karl-Heinz Kammerling. He won first prize in various competitions, among them Maria Callas in Athens, Japan Competition in Tokyo, and was awarded the Leonardo da Vinci from Rotary International. A regular guest with the leading Belgian orchestra, Johan Schmidt also appeared with the new Japan Philharmony Orchestra, Athens Philharmony, Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, Ukraine Symphony, RTL Orchestra and Orchestre National de France, under renowned conductors. He appeared in leading venues in Europe, the Far East and Israel. 

His chamber music partners are Augustin Dumay, Mahler Piano Quartet, American String Quartet, Eyal Shiloach, David Cohen and Ronald van Spandonk. Johan Schmidt has numerous recordings. His repertory includes Franz Liszt, Russian composers and Beethoven. His performances were broadcast in the USA, Germany, Japan, Belgium and France. He teaches at the Royal Conservatoire in Brussels and guides master classes in Europe and in Kingdau University for Science and Technology in China.
